Insurance Rehabilitation

When a party gets injured either on the job, or in a car accident or from a slip and fall, they go through a phase of Rehabilitation. Normally, this is part of the medical recovery aspect of a claim that is being paid by an insurance company. Someone has to verify the incident by use of interviews and statements being taken. Information that is harvested is then given to the insurance company of record in which case a file is then opened and the term Rehabilitation begins even if surgery is being contemplated or already completed.

Insurance companies are not in the business of paying out more than they take in and do not like to pay for ANY claims unless they have no other choice. Many claims are cut and dry and end-up in a quick resolution, but a good percentage of them are problematic for the insurance company as well as the companies they insure. Over the years, insurance companies have cut-back on in-house staff and began the practice of outsourcing to private providers (vendors). It is cheaper for them not to have to pay salaries, social security and benefits, etc.

Most insurance companies look at Rehabilitation as a necessary part of the claims process, though, they are not happy to have to participate in this. A good many claims that happen for various results end up in the hands of attorneys--just look at the commercials that you see each and every day on television or hear on the radio. If there were no cases, there would be no commercials. In any event, the Rehabilitation then becomes a game of accounting, whereas the attorney for the insurance company is in mortal combat with the attorney for the injured party. Many cases come to a standstill due to arrogance or lack of information to move it forward.
